Economic Impact of the Expressway
The West Run Expressway is being designed to foster improved traffic flow and motorist safety. Highway improvements, however, also carry with them some economic consequences. Because congestion and safety were the overriding needs identified in the Morgantown - Monongalia County Transportation Plan, that has been the focus of all the research and planning by the West Virginia Division of Highways and its consultants.

No emphasis was placed on economic development in the initial study and no research was undertaken into the potential nature of any economic impact. As this project develops, we will have projections of the economic impact of the West Run Expressway.
